Lake Superior Chowder Experience

Join us for the Lake Superior Chowder Experience, an Empty Bowls fundraiser that features soups from local restaurants and freshly baked North House cornbread.

Get your bowl for the Lake Superior Chowder Experience, a Summer Solstice and Wooden Boat Festival highlight that brings chowders of North Shore restaurants for you to taste. Smoked salmon, garden vegetable, classic clam, and poblano-potato were just a few of the interpretations area restaurants took last year. Combined with freshly baked cornbread, this is a North Shore culinary event not to be missed.

This year's Chowder Experience is a fundraiser for Empty Bowls Cook County, a 501c3 nonprofit working to fight food insecurity in Cook County. Some of the ways they've done this is by donating to the Cook County Food Shelf and other local non-profits, such as school lunch programs. It's estimated that over 12% of Cook County residents struggle with food insecurity, and with the rising costs of groceries, Empty Bowls' work is more important than ever.

The Lake Superior Chowder Experience will be taking place from noon-1pm on Saturday, June 22.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under; tickets can be purchased at the featival info booth, with sales starting at 10am on Saturday. All proceeds go to Empty Bowls Cook County—round up to make an additional donation and help fight hunger in our community.
