Mathilde Yakymets-Lind is a queer fiber artist and folklorist who spins wool from heritage sheep and weaves historical textiles. They lived in Estonia for nearly four years and did hands-on research on Baltic wool crafts for their PhD in folklore, which they completed in 2023. Along with textiles, Mathilde also works with wood to make and repair tools like looms, spindles, spinning wheels, flax scutching swords, and belt weaving knives. Community and ecology are central to their handwork, which is informed by traditional arts, ethnographic research, and past and present ways of living and making in our multi-species world.
