Gifts of tools, crafts, and boats
North House frequently fields inquiries from generous folks hoping to donate tools, boats, looms, books, yarn, and other items to the folk school.
The annual Make More Meaning Auction during June’s Summer Solstice and Wooden Boat Festival is a fantastic fit for this type of donation! Donors have the option to donate the entire proceeds from their items or receive a split, and the rest supports North House’s mission and programs.
Due to limited storage capacity, we ask that these donations not arrive on campus until closer to the event in early June, but we’re happy to learn more about your donation plans throughout the year.
In some cases, like with well-maintained hand tools or unique crafts, we are able to put these items to use for our courses or display on campus. Unfortunately, there are many cases where we are unable to use these items for our coursework due to specific class materials lists and limited campus storage (i.e. floor looms, spinning wheels, or older power tools).
At this time, we request that no clothing is submitted to the Make More Meaning Auction. Clothing is a great fit for the Great Gear Sale during November’s Winterers’ Gathering event!
Don't miss the Points North Auction which occurs in September alongside Unplugged, North House's yearly concert series and gala fundraiser. Online bidding is open for 10 days, and during Unplugged select items are highlighted in a display on campus. All proceeds support North House's Programs, Youth Initiatives, Events, Instructors and Scholarships.
