Julie fell in love with weaving after taking a class at the University of Minnesota in 1972. She does production weaving in her studio in Tofte, MN, specializing in woven rugs, household items and garments using hand dyed materials, handspun fibers, and recycled materials. Julie is also an active member of the Northwoods Fiber Guild.
