Judy’s love for fiber first started during childhood when Grandma taught her to crochet and eventually, she learned knitting. Fiber has always been a part of what she does. She was introduced to Primitive Rug Hooking when she was at an art fair in 2014. She signed up for a beginner’s class only to learn the instructor, a fiber artist and seasoned rug hooker was her neighbor living right down the road! That began Judy’s passion for rug hooking. She soon began designing and color planning her own patterns for rugs. She has given demonstrations at local markets and art fairs in and around her hometown of Hackensack, Minnesota. She has assisted for the last several years at North House in rug hooking classes. She’s enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge with beginners interested in the art of primitive rug hooking. Many of her pattern creations depict the north woods farms, animals and especially horses of the area she lives in. She sells patterns at local art fairs and on her Etsy site under “Tangleweed Fiber Arts.”
