Kitchen Table Series

Course Overview

Join Chef Scott Graden of the New Scenic Café in Duluth for a cultural experience centered around the kitchen, and extending far beyond. During the 3 days of each of these workshops, you will take part in a dynamic group conversation following a food-related film screening. You'll share stories and quips. You'll discuss life values, food values, and culture. You'll consider how a diverse collection of perspectives creates a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. And you'll cook great food and discover how food supports experience, not the other way around.

This series consists of three stand-alone sessions. Register for one or all!

Session Information

Session 2 Details

Day 1: Evening screening of "Chef" followed by discussions about values and life balance, the challenge of "simple but excellent," and generating success inside of real-world limitations. Food and beverage provided.

Days 2 & 3: Working with recipes from high-level, chef-driven cookbooks such as Relæ, The French Laundry, Plenty, and New Scenic Café - The Cookbook, we will consider the typical resources available when cooking at home and find realistic methods to be able to truly approach such recipes successfully, ending each day with food and additional conversation.

Note: This course is one session of the series. Each of these three sessions is an excellent standalone experience for students seeking a single course. For those interested in joining two or all three sessions, the information and conversation will build throughout the series.
