Course
Scandinavian Roots Weaving on the Rigid Heddle Loom
Course Overview
Create a woven sampler of Norwegian and Swedish patterns on a rigid heddle loom with instructors Julie Arthur and Melba Granlund. Using wool yarns, students will set up a rigid heddle loom and weave a few inches. Then, through group and individualized instruction, students will learn as many of the techniques as time permits (at least 3 or 4). After class, the sampler can be turned into a small bag by weaving a back side and strap. A zippered closure and lining are optional. Some weaving experience is helpful, but not necessary. All weaving materials will be provided. Looms are available to use, but students wishing to bring their own loom are welcome to.
A materials fee of $55 will be paid to instructor in class. This covers written instructions and all Swedish and Norwegian yarn for weft and woolen warp.
