Course Overview

Create a woven sampler of Norwegian and Swedish patterns approximately 8 inches wide on a rigid heddle loom. Using wool yarns, students will set up a rigid heddle loom and weave a few inches. Then, through group demonstrations and individualized instruction, students will learn as many of the techniques as time permits (at least three or four). After class, the sampler can be sewn into a small bag by weaving a reverse side and then assembled with a shoulder strap. Suggestions for sewing together will be covered. A zippered closure and lining are optional.

Skill level note: This is not a beginner class. Intermediate weaving experience is required at minimum. Students will be best served having taken more than one prior weaving class. Please contact either instructor with any questions. All weaving materials will be provided. Looms are available to use, but students wishing to bring their own loom are welcome to.

A materials fee of $55 will be paid to the instructor in class. This covers written instructions, warp, and Swedish or Norwegian yarn for weft.
