Course Overview

Whether a devoted carver or a first-time whittler, students will enjoy learning new techniques and tricks from long-time carver and educator Bruce Futterer. A variety of projects, including figure carving and relief carving, will be available for beginners to select. More experienced carvers are welcome to bring unfinished work to get pointers and encouragement. Bruce’s easy-going manner and deep well of experience will ensure that everyone progresses as a carver. This open setting allows for students to learn from one another, observe a variety of styles, work at their own pace and enjoy harborside carving and camaraderie. Youth ages 14+ are welcome to participate with an adult.

Required Tools

  • All tools will be provided for beginners

Optional Tools

  • Bring any carving tools you like to use
