Course Overview

This introductory weaving course offers students the opportunity to learn to weave on a four harness floor loom and then create warm, functional three-dimensional objects by felting their yardage. We’ll cover a brief history of weaving, different weave structures, how to read a simple weaving draft, wind a warp, and thread a loom. We will then design and weave wool yardage exploring the use of color and texture. Once the yardage is completed, the material will be felted. Students can then create different items such as mittens, hats, tote bags and more.
