Course Overview

The Arrowhead Country of Northern Minnesota contains more than 100 designated trout streams and stream trout lakes. One of the most enjoyable experiences in fly fishing is to catch a trout on a fly you have personally tied. In this class you will receive hands on instruction on how to tie a number of the best field-tested patterns to use to improve your success in fly fishing northern waters for trout. There will be some discussion and demonstrations on how trout react to colors, silhouettes, and movement. As part of the class students will also learn to dye fur and feathers that enable them to complete some of the more unique patterns used in these waters. By the end of the class each student will tie and take away as many as a dozen flies which they can use on their next fly-fishing outing.
