Small Breads: English Muffins, Biscuits & Buns Online Course

Course Overview

Discover the satisfaction of making your own pretzel buns for sandwiches, fresh English muffins for breakfast, or the flakiest buttermilk biscuits for any meal. Baking your own bread is fun and economical, but it also enables you to vouch for every ingredient. We’ll explore the role of lye in a water bath (although we’ll use special baking soda), how tender layers are created with butter and steam, and the unusual method of “baking” bread on a stovetop griddle. A shopping list and recipes will be provided, along with instructions to have ingredients ready to go when class begins.

Required Materials

Students will receive a packet of recipes and a shopping list ahead of time, you'll need to purchase your own ingredients.
The recipes will use common household baking tools (mixing bowls, spoon etc.), and you'll need access to an oven and a stovetop.

You'll need a laptop or tablet and reliable internet access to participate.
