Course Overview

Learn to knit a pair of mittens and enjoy a life-long skill set for knitting warm mittens for yourself or to give as gifts for those fingertips you care about. Learn to read knitting patterns for mittens, practice circular knitting techniques on double pointed needles, thumb techniques, closing the tip of the mitten and how to shape mittens for a good fit. Knitters should be able to cast on, knit and purl easily. Experiences with making increases and decreases while knitting will also be helpful.

Additional materials fee paid to instructor when class starts: Varies ($20-$30)

Required

You will need the following tools for this class:

  • Your materials fee will be paid directly to the instructor on the day of the class. 
  • Instructor will provide worsted weight wool yarn and size 8 needles. 
  • The instructor recommends bamboo or wood needles, but participants may bring any material and their own size 8 (Am) double pointed AND 16' circular needle.

Optional Tools

Feel free to bring your favorite tools and whatever materials you might feel appropriate for this course.
