Course Overview

Create a one-of-a-kind leather and wood backpack. With a vintage-inspired look, this leather bag will have rounded wooden sides and close with two leather straps and buckles. A pocket gives additional storage. This bag will give students an introduction to basic woodworking and leatherworking.

This class will start in the Milling Shop where students will learn to safely cut out wooden pieces using a band saw and table-mounted sander. The class will then transition to leatherworking fundamentals where students will learn how to dye leather, set rivets, hand stitch leather, and attach buckles.

This unique, customizable bag can carry your daily essentials!

Students ages 16+ may register if accompanied by an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register.
