Learn to Weave for your Closet
Course Overview
Students will learn about weaving including a brief history, weave structures, how to read a simple weaving draft, wind a warp, and thread a loom. They will design a scarf or shawl which they will weave on 4 harness floor loom. Students will also weave samples exploring color and other treadlings. Several different finishing techniques will be taught. For those with prior weaving experience and wanting to re-fresh, patterning such as lace or twill will be explored. The class will be taught by experienced weavers from the Northwoods Fiber Guild (based in Grand Marais) allowing for individual attention.

Required
You will need the following tools for this class:
All students must bring a binder with paper for note taking and graph paper. Please also bring scissor, pencils, colored pencils, and a tape measure.
Optional Tools
Feel free to bring any weaving equipment you may have, other than looms. All other required tools/materials will be provided by the instructors, the Duluth Fiber guild and North House to be available once the course begins.
