Traditional Crafts
Craft Exploration Camp for Adults
Course Overview
If there’s one thing that all North House students have in common, it’s curiosity: how is this made, how do these tools work, and what can my hands do? This summer, we’re offering a unique experience for those who want to try it all: a five-day “summer camp” sampler for adults. Each day, students will engage with a new skill, making small projects along the way. Basketry, spinning, hand tool woodworking, blacksmithing, and a field day exploring the woods, flora and fauna of the North Shore will make up a week's worth of learning experiences, offering an opportunity to taste a bit of these core crafts, all rooted in examining our connection with the natural world. We’ll host a few evening gatherings, including a wood-fired pizza bake. Expect to meet other curious learners who love craft and summertime on the North Shore. Days will end early (3pm) to allow folks free time to jump in the lake, visit a local watering hole, shop, go for a hike, and stay up late for stargazing. Registration is open to students ages 16+. A detailed schedule will be sent shortly in advance of the camp so you can make plans for each day.
