Traditional Crafts
Craft Exploration Camp for Adults
Course Overview
If there’s one thing that all North House students have in common, it’s curiosity: how is this made, how do these tools work, and what can my hands do? This summer, we’re offering a new and unique experience for those who want to try it all: a five-day “summer camp” sampler for adults. Each day, students will engage with a new skill and material, making small projects along the way. Simple wood carving using a slojd knife, birch bark weaving, blacksmithing, baking, and weaving on a floor loom will make up a week's worth of learning experiences, offering an opportunity to taste a bit of these core crafts. We’ll host an evening campfire and a wood-fired pizza bake, and maybe even a game of kubb. Expect to meet other curious learners who love craft and summertime on the North Shore. Days will end early (3pm) to allow folks free time to jump in the lake, visit a local watering hole, shop, go for a hike, and stay up late for stargazing. Registration is open to students ages 16+.
