Fiber Art

Beginning Primitive Rug Hooking

Course Overview

This session welcomes beginners to take up this therapeutic and utilitarian craft. Students will work on one of two patterns designed by Carol or Judy. In this class, each student will hook a small 8”x8” design that can be used as a rug, wall hanging, table mat, or pillow top. Proper techniques of hooking will be taught on the first day, and finishing the design will be discussed and demonstrated on the second day. Students will be contacted prior to class to choose one of two kits, each with a different pattern. Rug hooking frames will be available for use during classes. Additional materials such as rug hooking hooks, additional kits and patterns, and rug-hooking frames will be available for purchase.

Youth ages 12+ may register if accompanied by an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full-paying adult; call to register.
