Future Forests in North Shore State Parks
Fri, Nov 6th, 2026

Program Overview

Join DNR Resource Specialist Liza McCarthy to learn about her work on forest resiliency along the North Shore.

Forests along the North Shore have changed and will continue to do so due to several factors, including climate change, deer browse, and invasive species. State Parks and many partners are working to create a resilient future forest in northeastern Minnesota.

This presentation will look at current projects in State Parks and the planning and information behind forest climate adaptation.

This talk is a part of our First Fridays series of community programs. Come down to the harbor starting at 5:30 pm, gather around, and cook over an open fire as a community. Participants bring their own food; we’ll provide the fire and the pointy sticks. Sausages to steaks, pudgie pies to home fries, it’s all welcome. The fire will be ready by 5:30, followed by the presentation starting at 7 pm.

Apple cider, s'mores, and popcorn all provided!
