Thor-Aage Kaminka Heiberg

Thor-Aage Kaminka Heiberg is a master joiner/cabinetmaker and organbuilder journeyman with a BA in Technical Building Preservation and Restoration from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). He is the academic programme director for the BA in Norwegian Traditional Building crafts at NTNU and specializes in teaching artisan pre-industrial (hand tool) joinery as an assistant professor. His teaching embraces traditional Norwegian joinery as panelled- and ledge doors, windows, floor- and wall boards, mouldings and the making of traditional tools like planes and saws. 

He has extensive work experience as a joiner and has worked with building church organs, staircase manufacturing and preservation of traditional woodcraft and houses/wooden objects both in an open-air museum and now at NTNU.

Away from work he enjoys spending time in the Norwegian mountains skiing and hiking all year round with his wife, three children and two Alaskan Huskies
