Pastry Pleasures -Strudel & Danish Pastry: Online Course
Course Overview
Fabulous bakeries with their jewel-toned Danish are wonderful, as are time-saving foods like phyllo dough that inhabit grocery store freezers. This class, however, returns these foods to their handmade origins. We’ll make a butter-laminated Danish pastry dough that makes the most of a shortcut. Then you’ll amaze yourself by pulling tissue-thin strudel dough through which -- as tradition says -- you can read a love letter. Filling options will range both sweet and savory, depending on your tastes. Students will source their own ingredients for this half-day cook-along Zoom class as noted in an info packet from the instructor. NOTE: Students will mix their Danish dough on their own the night before class. This will ensure that it’s thoroughly chilled for the next day’s rolling and folding. Kim will be available by phone or email should issues arise, but the recipe is a user-friendly one, even for those new to baking.
