Breads for Everyday Baking: Youth in the Kitchen
Course Overview
This course invites youth ages 11-14 to gain new baking skills and a sense of confidence and independence in the kitchen. We’ll explore both quick breads and yeast breads in this hands-on class, starting with an Italian fougasse bread and ending with classic baking powder biscuits. After a demo on mixing and a chance to learn kneading techniques, each student will shape their own yeast bread. While that bakes, we’ll mix up biscuits and learn how baking powder makes bread rise. Please bring paper bags to take home your breads.
