Woodshop Intro for Women
If you’ve never really had the opportunity to gain experience in the woodshop before, the prospect of working with power tools can be a bit daunting. However, the chop saw, the planer, the table saw, the jointer and the rest are all just tools; once you know what you’re doing and gain some practice and confidence, they make life better, easier, and open up new worlds. Join wood artist Cecillia Schiller in a hands-on exploration of woodworking basics: the how, when, and why of safe and effective power tool operation. Using the jointer, planer, table saw and band saw, you will learn step-by-step how to take a rough sawn piece of lumber and make an attractive cutting board. Then you’ll gain additional practice, skills, and confidence by making a beautiful keepsake box. By request, this class is open to women only.
