Wool, water, and agitation allows for a world of possibilities. We will explore what wool can become, each day focusing on a different method of wet felting. Wool becomes the medium for painting, for sculpture, for practical and durable items. With four days there will be time to gain comfort and skill working with wool, practice on small items and then dream up and execute personal projects. We will explore different sheep breeds, mixing colors, designing with pre-felts while we make 1. flat felts (tablerunners, seat cozies, placemats, potholders) 2. stuffed 3D items (stuffed animals, abstract sculptures) 3. hollow felted items (vessels, bowls, oven mitts) and 4. nuno felting (scarves, luminaries), using silk and wool combined. Students' personal style will come through as they design their own projects. Felting is a physical craft using body energy to coax fibers into felt. Be prepared for surprises and amazed by can be created in four days! Students should have the ability to stand and agitate wool. Additional materials fee may apply if larger projects are made.

Students ages 14+ may register for this course independently. Youth ages 10+ are welcome to register with an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full-paying adult; call to register.
