Course Overview

In this two day class you will make a dry scraper for tanning large game - moose, elk, bison, and deer - from scratch.  Starting with a sheet of high tech tool steel, each participant will cut out a blade, heat treat it to optimum hardness in a temperature controlled furnace, sharpen the blade to a razor edge, and craft a handle from premium hardwood.  If time permits, participants will also have the option of assembling a softening tool for a small extra materials fee of $30, payable to the instructor.
