Fiber Art

Kids Only - Stitched-Up Embroidery

Course Overview

Long before screen-printed tee shirts, decorative elements had to be added to clothing by hand. In Scandinavia, needlepoint embroidery has been practiced for centuries; traditional garb is covered in beautifully stitched designs. Students will learn the historical context and cultural significance of needlepoint and be introduced to both traditional and contemporary examples of the craft. The class will cover basic stitches, how to freeform an image, and the final process of finishing an embroidered piece.

This class is for kids only, ages 7+.
