Do you like playing with fire? This course is for jewelers that have some skills but would like to take it to the next level. If you have felt like you are missing some of the vital information and techniques of silversmithing, this is for you. This class will give you a little more freedom to cultivate your designs and uses more advanced techniques to turn them into reality. It will be structured to show you how to accomplish specific techniques and then allow you to practice your new techniques over three days. Once you have been instructed, it’s time to play with fire! We will cover advanced soldering techniques and build on what you already know. We will also focus on making bezels and prongs for gemstones and fabricating techniques for rings, earrings and pendants. Stone setting will also be covered in this class as well as forming sterling silver.

All the tools will be provided to create your masterpiece. Students will be provided with an initial kit of materials at the start of class. Additional sterling silver and gemstones will be available for purchase (see materials fee). The materials fee will be collected by the instructor at the conclusion of class.

Feel free to bring your favorite tools and whatever materials you might feel appropriate for this course. Please bring your design ideas, stones, beads or other objects you would like to include in your work. Also, any jeweler's tools or glasses can be helpful.
