Service Learning: Felt a Seat Cozy

Course Overview

Make a felted wool seat cozy for North House kids classes or other occasions. There is something sweet about sitting in a circle without tables and chairs to bring little people together. With your help, kids in summer camps and afterschool programs will have the option to gather in comfort, inside and outside, on the ground. The cushions will also provide a comfort-boosting option for classes that use our wood stools. Using old wool blankets, wool roving, needle felting and wet felting techniques you will create a comfortable cushion with your own creative touch on the North House logo. You will also learn about making prefelts and using this technique for surface designs. Leave your beautiful wooly mark on campus with a seat cozy or two made in this special Service Learning class. Interested in making a seat cozy or two for yourself? Sign up for the previous day’s Felt a Seat Cozy class!

Youth age 12+ may attend without an adult. Youth 10+ may attend with an adult and register as a pair to work on one project together, or may each make their own cozy (add'l materials fee applies day of).
