Fiber Art
Rag Rug Weaving for Beginners
Course Overview
Brightly colored rag rugs can spruce up any space, and are a testament to the resourcefulness and sustainability of traditional crafts. They are also satisfying first projects for aspiring weavers! Learn to weave on a floor loom and craft a useful project. From reading a draft to winding warp to threading a loom, this class will cover all the basics, explore design and color planning, and teach several different finishing techniques. As time allows, students will be able to weave a second project. Information will be provided so that students can bring their own rags if they’d like, or use the materials provided by the instructor.
Session Information
This class will begin with an online Zoom meet-up one week prior to class (Sep 8 at 7pm) so students can prepare their materials in advance of the course. Information will be provided so that students can bring their own rags if they'd like, or use the materials provided by the instructor.
