Quilting the North Woods: A Seasonal Block of the Month Quilt
Course Overview
North House and the north woods are full of inspiring colors and patterns for the quilter. Laura Ricketts has designed a nine block wall-hanging with thematic blocks, as well as a North House central block. This North Woods quilt class will focus on triangles: dealing with bias in fabric and the various ways to cut and make blocks to lessen bias problems. In class, we will work on our first “block of the month” for this quilt, and leave with the fabric for a second block, and the fabric and pattern for a third, special “North House” central block.
For an additional materials fee, additional blocks, directions and fabric will be mailed to the participants over the next four months. Students should be comfortable with a sewing machine and know the basic principles of quilting. For this Block-of-the-Month club, students will receive the pattern and material for the first three blocks and begin them in class. For the next four months, students will be mailed three mirrored block patterns (to make six blocks) and the necessary fabric, sashing and borders. Students have the option to pay monthly ($35/month + $3 processing fee) or up front, ($140 total). Cost includes postage, although international shipping will be additional, if applicable.
