Course Overview

In this class you will design and make a custom open-top leather case to fit your favorite hand tools, knitting projects, or farmer’s market haul. You will choose from several different length, height, and basic pocket configurations, with additional pockets or fixtures for specific needs. If time allows, you can also make a shoulder strap for a small additional fee. You will learn about cutting and sewing leather, installing hardware, basic wet molding, and leather care. We will use natural vegetable tanned leather, which will develop a deep, rich color as it lives its life with you.

Materials fee includes all basic materials for class. Students will also have the option to buy additional hardware and materials from the instructor.

Skills and physical requirements: This process requires a steady hand and enough shoulder strength to pound a mallet like you mean it. Please bring reading glasses if you need them.
