Course Overview

Many cultures around the world have independently arrived at various formulas for creating ink. The ancient recipes that exist today were derived from archaeological analyses or from written texts. After a short slideshow about the history of inks, you will learn how to turn native plants, grocery store produce and extracts into luscious inks for writing and drawing. In addition to creating time-honored recipes of diverse hues, we will make quill pens to try out our concoctions. Students will take home their pen and amber bottles filled with an assortment of colorful inks.

This course is open to students ages 16+.
