October Skies: Night Photography Workshop
Course Overview
When you combine the autumn nights, the North Shore of Lake Superior, and a passion for photography, something interesting and beautiful is bound to happen. In this course, you’ll join professional photographer, Bryan Hansel in the darkness to capture images of star trails and the moon over Lake Superior. During the night we'll also experiment with low-level lighting and other lighting techniques. The course starts with a presentation and then heads out into the field after twilight and stays out until after midnight. We’ll meet up mid-morning the next day for an image review session. It’s certain to be an unforgettable experience.

Required
You will need the following tools for this class:
- headlamp
- digital SLR or mirco 4/3rd camera
- lenses ranging from wide to a moderate telephoto
- UV filters for each lens
- a laptop
- USB memory key and plenty of camera batteries
- be sure to eat dinner before or bring something with you
- snacks as needed
- appropriate outdoor clothing
- steel wool
Optional Tools
The instructor will brings LED lights and flashlights, but you can bring those items as well for more light painting fun. You'll receive an email of all the recommended equipment about a month before the workshop.
