Leather Belt Sewing
Course Overview
Belts: they keep your pants in place, but they can also be a fashion statement, or make a statement for you. This class will explore the creation of a leather belt from vegetable tanned leather. We will cut, punch, stitch, and tool the leather with embossing tools, adding design elements to your leather belt. Finally, we will choose to dye the leather, or finish with other products, leaving students with a custom belt to really make a statement.
Students should expect to finish two belts in this class, and an assortment of small projects like a keychain or luggage tag, while learning to work with the material.
Youth ages 12+ may register if accompanied by an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register. Students ages 16+ may register independently.

Any leatherworking and tooling tools they may own independently. If there’s a pattern or design stamp you’d like on your belt there are many options at a Tandy Leather store for around $10-$20 I will provide all tools necessary for belt making and design/emboss with stamps, but if you have a specific image you want stamped on your belt it would be best to bring that with to class because there are so many and I may not have the exact thing you are looking for.
