Fiber Art

Knitted Longwool Locks Scarf

Course Overview

If you're a fan of lustrous longwool locks, this is your chance to knit them into an elegant, warm scarf. This technique results in a natural fleece look but with the elasticity that knitting provides. It's a great way to add unique accents to any knitting project—think fluffy cuffs, collars, and even hats. While students are knitting their scarves, the instructor will demonstrate how to wash and dye longwool locks.

For the scarf, students will need to bring 6 to 8 ounces of washed locks (5 inches long or more) and 4 ounces of worsted weight yarn in a coordinating color. They may also purchase the yarn and locks from the instructor at the beginning of class. Students will learn the technique in class, but will probably need to finish knitting after class.
