Course Overview

The smell of challah baking fills Jewish homes every Friday across the world, marking the start of a weekly holiday, Shabbat. In this class, students will mix, knead, braid, and bake their own challah, learning techniques they can bring home to use in their own traditions.

Students will also learn to fill and twist a chocolate babka, shape hamantaschen (triangular filled cookies for Purim), and roll up a variety of sweet, horn-shaped rugelach. We will talk about the traditions behind our bakes and explore variations to try at home.

Experienced bakers and novices are equally welcome!

This course is open to students ages 12+. Youth ages 8-11 are welcome to register with an adult. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full-paying adult; call to register.
