Jewish Baking
Course Overview
The smell of challah baking fills Jewish homes every Friday across the world, marking the start of a weekly holiday—Shabbat. Students will mix, knead, braid, and bake their own challah, learning techniques they can bring home to make part of their own traditions.
You’ll also learn to fill and twist a chocolate babka, shape hamantaschen (triangular filled cookies for Purim), and roll up a variety of sweet, horn-shaped rugelach. We’ll talk about the traditions behind our bakes and explore variations to try at home.
Experienced bakers and novices are equally welcome!
Students age 12+ may participate in this course without an adult. Those ages 8 to 11 may participate with an adult. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register.
