Course Overview

With gardens in full swing, be prepared to tackle weeds with your very own handmade gardening tools! Students will learn the basics of forging in this class while making 2-3 different garden tools. The tools Elizabeth will demonstrate include a hand cultivators, hand trowel, a weeder, and a Korean style hand plow. We will use different types of steel as well as different connections and handling techniques. There will be points in this class where students will partner up and learn two-person striking.  This course is open to students ages 16+.

Required Tools

  • Close toed shoes 
  • Hair tie for long hair 
  • All cotton clothing 

Optional Tools

  • Any personal hand tools 
  • PPE (gloves, eye/ear protection)
