Are you a fan of Lake Superior agates? If so, then this course is for you. Our morning will include time in the classroom to learn about the identification of and geological history behind the formation of these stones as well as time out on the premiere agate beach outside of Grand Marais to hunt for this elusive gem. After lunch we’ll gather back in the classroom for students to wet felt two or more “agates” to take home. No experience necessary.

Materials fee: There will be a fee due to your instructor in class of $5 for each felted agate made. Cash or check will be accepted.

Physical ability notes: We’ll be spending time on a cobblestone beach so some physical agility is required. Each wet felted agate requires approximately 30 or more minutes of rolling in your hands so students should have the manual stamina and dexterity to do this.

Youth ages 10+ may register if accompanied by an adult. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register.
