Celestial Navigation II: Spending the Day with the Sun

Course Overview

Once you've mastered the noon sight, it is time to spend a day with the sun, taking sextant sights throughout the day and advancing your position on the chart. This course will take students beyond the noon sight and teach them how to find a position by taking sextant sights at different times during the day. Students will delve further into the Nautical Almanac and will be introduced to the Sight Reduction Tables. Participants should either have taken Celestial Navigation I or be comfortable with taking and working out a noon sight for latitude and longitude.
