Basketry
Birch Bark Basket Necklace
Course Overview
Using spring and winter birch bark harvested in Angora, MN, students will weave one basket necklace on a mold. The course will cover a simple start and stop basket weave for the body with a choice of rim treatment, waxed linen colors and bead embellishments. The necklace hanger can be made using an easy but time-consuming five ply waxed linen braid or a simple, adjustable necklace hanger pattern. The finished basket will measure approximately 4”x 2”x 1” and can even function as a diffuser for essential oils.
