A Stitch in Time - Embroidered Sampler

Course Overview

Embroidery is a timeless craft with a history that reaches back centuries, and embroidered samplers were both a demonstration of skill and a record of stitches in a time when books were rare. In this class, students will learn over 20 different embroidery/crewel stitches while creating a sampler using different types of threads -- cotton, silk, wool, rayon, and specialty; plus incorporating the use of beads. Class will also discuss the potential of embroidery for visible mending with samples. Three kit options will be available for students to choose from.

Students ages 16+ may register for this course independently. Youth ages 10+ may register if accompanied by an adult. Adult/child pairs will complete two projects and pay two materials fees. A 25% tuition discount applies to the youth registrant when registering with a full paying adult; call to register.
