Sew a "Summer" Anorak

Course Overview

The anorak is the traditional outer garment worn thoughout the far north and Arctic climates for all seasons, including the summer! Its primary function is to block wind, making it a great garment for sailing, kayaking and other outdoor excursions. In this course, students will sew their own "summer" lightweight anorak with the option of two styles. The Fisherman’s Smock makes an excellent overshirt and is made of medium to lightweight fabric in a loose-fitting pullover style with long sleeves and front neckline slit. The Inuit style also features an attached hood, pockets and optional couched thread design in a contrasting color. The Fisherman's style offers the student a choice of either a collar or hood and various pocket styles. Trim may be added, if desired. Basic sewing skills recommended. To accommodate material ordering, the registration deadline is two weeks prior to course.
