Course
Northern Gardening Indoors & Out
Course Overview
What does it take to have a green thumb in the North? With a little planning and simple resources like a hoop house, the land can yield a generous bounty during a full season. Meet Joan and Howard Abrahamson, enthusiastic gardeners who work with the land and extend the seasons using simple strategies. From Joan you will learn by doing: the basics of seed selection, plant propagation, transplanting and plant management both in greenhouses and out. From Howard you will learn to construct: indoor growing facilities, raised beds, and hoop greenhouses. We will build an inexpensive 12' x 14' hoop greenhouse as a class project. Management of hoop/green houses will also be discussed. The hoop house built during the class will be offered for sale to an interested class member at the close of the class (on a first-come first-served basis).
