Course
Nålbinding Socks
Course Overview
Socks worked in nålbinding were essential in the wardrobes of Scandinavians from before the Vikings through the 19th century. Today these rugged, warm slipper-like socks are still valued among those Scandinavians who work (or play) outdoors or for a cozy evening at home. After a review of the history and folklore of nålbinding, you will investigate the methods of constructing a sock. Choose between two sock options: Viking style or the style of "Klas Brita," a famous Swedish nålbinder. You will be provided with a needle, lesson materials and an appropriate amount of yarn for your first stitch samples.
