Course
Building Rustic Willow Furniture
Course Overview
Rustic furniture-making is a centuries-old tradition, though the height of its popularity was probably from the mid 1800's to the mid 1900's. Its prominence ranged from the Gothic-styled garden furniture seen in English parks and gardens to the Adirondak style that graces the interiors of many mountain lodges and retreats in North America.
This three-day course will acquaint the participants with the basics of willow furnituremaking. The main project will be the completion of a functional Adirondak-syle bent willow chair. If time allows, students can build a small table or foot stool to go with their chair.
