Course
All the Small Things
Course Overview
How many small things can we make out of birch bark in two days? Rings, beads, cubes, stars, birds? All of them! We will even make a few folded sheaths to fit on your scissors or other small tool. Students will try their hand at cutting and processing the raw materials while learning about how birch bark is harvested. Try to make as many small treasures as physically possible, but expect only one before moving on to the next pattern. With patience and a bit of string, these creations can bring the iconic birch tree into daily life and home decor. Students must have strong hand dexterity and good eyesight to work with birch bark in small scale. If there are any concerns about ability or accessibility please contact North House before registering. Ages 16+ may register for this class independently.
