Craft Education Internship 2024

Application deadline: Friday, September 27th, 2024 at noon CST

North House Folk School’s internship program is dedicated to advancing the future of traditional craft by engaging participants in the world of craft education. The internship program focuses on giving participants a breadth of experiences to equip them in their development as effective educators, craft artisans, and non-profit administrators. Interns develop traditional craft skills through coursework and practice in a range of core craft areas. Education and nonprofit administrative skills are developed through work on classroom coordination, administrative support, public engagement and practicing teaching skills.

It is North House’s goal to support internship participants in their discovery and exploration of the worlds of craft and folk education, setting the stage for their continued professional development as artisans, educators, and non-profit administrators into the future.

Finance Director

Application deadline: Friday, April 12, 2024 at Noon.

The Finance Director serves in a leadership role at North House and is responsible for oversight, management and coordination of all of North House’s financial systems. This opening is a unique opportunity for individuals interested in being part of a collaborative and dynamic staff team, living in an iconic northern community with a strong arts focus, and advancing the vitality of a thriving nonprofit.

The position collaborates regularly with other staff as well as instructors and community volunteers. Non-profit financial experience and an ability to illuminate financial data are critical to this role. A broad base of skills is essential to the position, with significant experience utilizing Quickbooks and Excel highly desirable.

North House’s campus sits on the edge of Lake Superior and is busy every month of the year. Nearby, both the BWCAW and the Superior Hiking Trail access the surrounding wilderness.

Benefits include paid course days, PTO, professional development, sick days and more.  Monday-Friday with rotating weekends roles. Salary $56,000-$60,000. Ideally, we believe this position is based in Grand Marais, MN.
