Course Overview

This course had been updated due to a new instructor teaching.
In this two-day course, we will explore two different styles of surface design on fabric.

Day One:
Introduction to eco printing with leaves and cut-out resists, using iron water blankets and dips. While those are steaming, we will set up an indigo vat for some instant gratification, using clamps and other simple resist techniques.

Day Two:
Carve our own linoleum blocks and print with textile paint on our eco-printed or plain fabrics as well as on sheepskin scraps which can be used later at home in a variety of sewing projects. We will also have several Norwegian wood blocks on hand for printing.

Optional Tools

  • Participants can bring fabrics, and clothing to be eco-printed and/or indigo dyed. They are also welcome to bring yarns for indigo dyeing and their favorite stamps.
