During this class, you’ll develop key knitting skills, including shaping techniques, picking up stitches, and working short rows, all while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow knitters. By the end, you’ll be well on your way to completing a versatile accessory that can be a gift for yourself or someone you care about.

This hooded cowl pattern is suitable for intermediate knitters. It combines knitting in the round and flat, basic shaping, and a few techniques that may require some familiarity or willingness to learn. While not overly complex, it demands attention to transitions, finishing, and some versatility in skills. Participants should have a basic understanding of knitting techniques, including knitting, purling, and increasing/decreasing stitches. The instructor will guide more advanced techniques such as short rows and picking up stitches.

Required Tools

  • US Size 4 (3.5 mm) 16” circular needle for the neck and edging
  • A long circular needle (32” or longer) for working the hood with the Magic Loop method
  • Stitch markers (including one unique marker to mark the beginning of rounds)
  • Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Yarn

    • Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Oh Dang- Two skeins of contrasting colors, such as Love Me Like You Used To (main color) and Hill Country (contrast color).
