Pollinator Palaces: Building Mason Bee Houses - July 4
Become an architect for insects! Come learn about pollinators and their importance to ecosystems. And then learn design and woodworking skills by building a beautiful house for mason bees that you can take home!
Compost Tie Dye - July 11
Come tie dye the natural way! In this class, students will learn about common compostable items and how to turn them into beautiful dyes. Students will become masters of the dye making and dyeing processes. In the end, students will have a unique dye they made and a tie dye t-shirt to take home!
Sustainable Stringed Instruments - July 18
Start strumming! Build your own sustainable stringed instrument by repurposing what you already have (ahem, some might call it junk) into a tool for joyful noise-making. By constructing simple instruments out of commonly found objects, we will explore recycling, lutherie, and community by working together and playing together. There will be a variety of levels of difficulty to choose from so that children of many ages can experience success in making a stringed instrument.
Lino-cut Printmaking - July 25
Design a pattern, perhaps an animal or landscape, or even a fantastic creature! Then we’ll carve the picture you’ve drawn into a piece of lineolum and roll with different inks to make a print for postcards, letters, banners and more! Can be used over and over again!
